The Thanksgiving Lemon?

The Thanksgiving Lemon?
Journaling: "The Thanksgiving Lemon? - You were so funny. Nana's friend Judith had given her some lemons for Thanksgiving. Nana brought them home to serve as a centerpiece. She had them arranged in a bowl on the dining room table. And as soon as you saw them, you absolutely had to have one. We didn't know why, but we gave you one anyway. And you carried it around all weekend. It even had to go to Waycross to visit your great-grandfather, though we did manage to convince you to leave it in the car. It was battered and bruised by the end of the weekend, but it made the trip back to Atlanta, where it later disappeared."

    Carefree Childhood Days

I don't think I've ever scrapped a photo this close to when it was taken in my life! I took this picture around 3:30 this afternoon (Jan 27, 2007), and here it is scrapped barely 8 hours later.

    First Haircut

I've been waiting to scrap these photos forever! I'm not completely thrilled with this one, so I may do another one with these same pictures, but I think it looks fine for the challenge. I've also had that first font (called Wake and Bake) forever as well, with absolutely no idea what to do with it! I think this was the perfect thing, even if I do say so myself.

    First Haircut
Journaling: "First Haircut - You didn't get your first haircut until you were over a year old. I wanted you to look like a baby for just a little longer, and I refused to get it cut before your first birthday. I remember what it was like when your uncle used to get his hair cut. Much screaming was involved, and I expected the worst with you. Much to my surprise, you did great! I took you to a salon just for children, and even they were surprised by how well you did. Such a big boy! -November 2005"

    Spanish Moss

Be looking for at least 5 more 4x6 layouts from me in the next several days. The original challenge said that if you did one layout from each week's set of three, you would then get the next week's set. They added something, and I only just found out today: do all 12 (four sets of 3), and you get an extra set of templates, plus an extra bonus. Plus I have another 12x12 template challenge due by the end of the month, IIRC. I'd better get scrapping!

    I am officially impressed

I've been hearing so many people talk about PhotoBlast Actions (no affiliation), that when they went on sale (through the end of the day today at DigiScrapShak; no affiliation, just a happy customer), I decided I had to try them out. And I am officially impressed. I now see what everyone is talking about! Here are three versions of the same photo.

    Before (straight out of camera):

    After the Warm Up action:

Then applying the ContraPop to the warmed photo:

Isn't that amazing? What had been a cool and semi-lifeless photo is now dazzling! I am so very impressed. And these are just the stand-alone basic actions, not the fancy "WOW" (their term) or Pro versions. I know people can do great things with those, and maybe when I get the hang of these, I'll try those, but presently those are too much money. But the ones I bought, to fix my three biggest photo problems (Over-Exposed Fix, Under-Exposed Fix, and Warm-Up), plus one to help pop the colors (ContraPop), will do just fine for me. Perhaps when I decide that I am doing more with monochrome photos, I'll invest in the "Black and White" set (which does sepia, midnight blue, and all sorts of other colors), but for now, these are just fine. I just wanted to share that I have tried a few of them, and I really do like them. Guess PhotoShop Elements will be getting used for more than just red-eye removal from now on! LOL

    Carved in Stone

Some beautiful stone sculptures from Zimbabwe, found in the lower levels of the concourses at the Atlanta Airport. Most of the photos didn't turn out (not enough light, and me not holding the camera still enough), but a couple did. Expect to see one or two more of these in the future (sometime).

    2006 Review

I really liked this sketch, so I decided to participate in this challenge this month.

    2006 Review
  • Journaling: "2006: What a wild year! So much fun, so much new, so much unexpected. Luke slept at his grandparents' house without his parents. Jacob got his Ph.D. Luke discovered the playground. Steve and Erin turned 30, Luke turned 2. Erin rejoined the workforce, which meant Luke started daycare. Granny passed away. Mike got engaged. Erin visited Canada for the first time. Luke was diagnosed with a hearing problem. Joy, sadness, surprises, and fun, but most of all, full of family and love."

    Happy 2007: The Big Reveal

Remember me assuring you that I was scrapping a few weeks ago, but I couldn't tell you what? Well, here it is: I made a CD Case Calendar for my family using pictures of Luke. So far, everyone has absolutely loved them! I even used them as my own self-made quick pages and popped in some photos of M for Shalini, then some of my BIL and soon-to-be SIL as personal gifts for them. A very big hit, I must say.

Now, don't go being all impressed. Each of these is either a quick page with the month added, or it was made using a template. Credits noted below each page (except the cover sheet). Enjoy!
